Satoshi Kon Lost the Battle Against Cancer at 47
Satoshi Kon 今敏 Japanese director noted for serious, arthouse films which examine their characters' psychology. He had a big thing with the concept of subjective reality, and incorporated it into almost all of his works (Tokyo Godfathers excluded). Closely tied to MadHouse studios and the composer Susumu Hirasawa.
He passed away on August 24, 2010 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 46.

A great loss... Tokyo Godfathers and Millennium Actress are both among my favorite movies, much less anime, of all time.
