Eden of the East Concluded

Akira Takizawa
If you were given 10 billion yen, how would you spend it in order to save your country? This is the story of Akira Takizawa, a man who was tossed into a game that will decide the fate of the country.

The story starts with the introduction of "Careless Monday" an event in which ten missiles strike against uninhabited areas of Japan, thus claiming no victims. Three months later, the show introduces Saki Morimi, a Japanese girl visiting Washington D.C. as a part of her graduation trip. She tries to toss a coin into the fountain of the White House which is quite far from her location. The police found this action quite suspicious and approaches Saki. Before the police could actually approach her, a naked Japanese man with no memory carrying a gun and a cellphone charged with 8.2 billion yen worth of digital money distracts the policemen. The naked man introduced himself as Akira Takizawa. As they return to Japan, they discover another missile is about to hit the country.

Noblesse Phone
As the story progresses, Akira discovers that his cellphone is a part of a game and he is one of the participants. The game consists of 12 participants which are dubbed as Seleção (translated as "Selection from Portuguese). Each of the Seleção are given 10 billion yen in digital money which they can spend in any way they desire in order to save the country. The Seleção are able to use the phone operator, Juiz, to fulfill any kind of order for a price. However if the money is used up completely or for selfish purposes, the individual will be eliminated.

Later in the series, Akira discovers that he is linked with Careless Monday which is the reason why he had his memory erased, and that the one who fired the missiles during Careless Monday is actually one of the participants in the game. A new batch of missiles is fired by the same individual, however they were intercepted by Akira. After this event, Akira decides that the only way to save the country is to lead it. He decides to use his money to crown himself as the King of Japan and once again get his memory erased.

The series ended with the story above. It was concluded through two movies. The first movie was titled "King of Eden" and the second one was titled "Paradise Lost". The last two movies narrated Akira's rise to the becoming the next Prime Minister of Japan. The ending revealed a twist that I never expected.

The story of this show is unique and entertaining, the characters are very believable. It actually made me think "What would I do in order to save the country?" I highly recommended this show. Two thumbs up plus two big toes! And before I end this article, I would like to say for one last time "Noblesse Oblige".
