Hadoukens, Uppercuts and Bears... Oh My!
Seems like the San Diego Comic Convention is also a go-to event for gaming news (and I don't mean just tabletop).
Capcom was supposed to focus mainly on Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (abbreviated as MVC3: FTW[!]), which would make sense at Comic-Con... the game does have comic book characters y'know.
But a surprise visit during the Capcom event was from a Namco producer, to announce Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter.
If you're wondering what the difference is, Capcom and Namco will create both games. Capcom will make SFXT, which is more a 2D fighter (or a 2d fighter with polygons), Namco is developing TXSF, which would be a 3D fighter.
I'm sure this comes with a resounding 'HUH!?', but I'd say this makes more sense than the long-rumoured Virtua Fighter Vs. Tekken. I'd argue Tekken's still a 2D fighter with semi-3D, and the Street Fighter characters would fit better with Tekken than VF's.
Zangief spinning pile-driving King? That's the ticket!
