Eiji Tsuburaya's 114th Birthday
If it weren't for the Google Doodle, I wouldn't know it is the birthday of the "Master of Kaiju".
Eiji Tsuburaya is a real pop icon, he is known for his special effects in many Japanese science fiction movies. He is kinda like the Jim Henson of Japan, he was and innovator, a visionary and was responsible for the biggest monster movies around in his time. He was one of the co-creators in the Godzilla series and is also very well known for his Ultra series which started way back in 1966. As a kid, I am used to watching cartoons, so when I saw real live people in costumes jumping and posing around like idiots, it was like the most awesome thing I have ever seen! And yes I did imitate them back then. From then on I started to watch Choudenshi Bioman (the first tokusatsu show I have ever seen), then I saw the Godzilla movies and eventually they broadcasted Ultraman.
Ultraman was incredibly unique to me that time, It was Apache Chief with a chrome finish, shouted a lot of jibberish and could only fight for 3 minutes. Which made me remember that instant ramen advertisement.
Watching guys in rubber suits fight in a miniature environment was very entertaining for some strange reason. I still watch those shows until now and I never get tired of it.
