Nintendo 3DS Price Drop

From a starting price of $250, the 3DS price dramatically drops its price to $170. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata issues a personal apology, as the company continues to deal with the backlash from 3DS owners after lowering the price of the handheld system 30-percent. The company issued the 3DS Ambassador program worldwide for people who have purchased the device before August 11, 2011 11:59pm EST. They will be expressing their gratitude by letting us download 20 free games.

1. Starting Sept. 1, Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES™ Virtual Console™ games at no charge and before they are available in the Nintendo eShop to the general public. These games, including Super Mario Bros.™, Donkey Kong Jr.™, Balloon Fight™, Ice Climber™ and The Legend of Zelda™, are slated to become paid downloadable games, but Ambassadors get them early for free. Once the paid versions of the games are posted to the Nintendo eShop later in the year, the updated versions will be available to Ambassadors for download at no cost.

2. By the end of 2011, Nintendo will provide Ambassadors with 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games. These include games like Yoshi's Island™: Super Mario™ Advance 3, Mario Kart™: Super Circuit, Metroid™ Fusion, WarioWare™, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong™. These games will be available exclusively to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future.

Opinion:
That was a pretty huge price drop, am I disappointed by this? Nope, not at all. I can be proud to say that I am one of the first few guys here to get a 3DS. A price drop means more people will be able to afford the system, and it will also mean more friends and more Streetpass hits. The fact that Nintendo is giving out free games as apology is already more than enough to keep us gamers happy.

It suddenly hit me that game companies should mess up more in order for us gamers to get free stuff from them. I suddenly remembered the PSN outage which also happened this year, I got a lot of free stuff from that company since I got my PS3. I guess its Microsoft's turn to screw up for 2011 so that we could expect free stuff from them as well.
