Top 5 Villains in Japanese Animation *SPOILER WARNING*
It's the end of the year, and we're happy to say that this blog is still alive and kicking. I guess if sholuld have a new year's resolution is I should post more. Now on to the subject.
What is a villain? These are the characters whose evil actions make a story great, and they give the protagonist's story a bit of oomph. From Disney shows to Game of Thrones, they are the ones that would make your teeth grind and make you shake your fist. But there are a ton of great villains out there especially in Japanese animation. And we here in GHP have been watching anime since our childhood. We have been watching anime from way back in the 80's with titles like Astro Boy (1980), Speed Racer, Mazinger Z (a.k.a. Tranzor Z), Getter Robo G (a.k.a Starvengers), and the most mainstream super robot in the Philippines Voltes V. But we never stopped watching anime, so we have a ton on our list, but we'll only be listing 5 why? Because I'm lazy HAHA! The villains on the list is based on our opinion so it may differ from yours, so here is our top 5 list:
5. Cell (Dragon Ball Z)
"Fools! Don't you realize yet you're up against the Perfect weapon?!" |
An android created by Dr. Gero designed to possess all the abilities of the greatest fighters who have ever inhabited the Earth. Everyone is scared shitless when he's around, and he kicked everyone's ass in his perfect form especially after he assimilated the ability to do a super saiyan 2. So why did I choose Cell and not Freeza? He was defeated out of desperation TWICE! And the way he was defeated in the end was incredibly epic.
4. Kyubey (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
“I want you to form a contract with me and become magical girls!” |
Kyubey is a creature who makes contracts with young girls to turn them into "Magical Girls" so that they can fight witches. Make a wish an all your dreams come true right? NO! Don't let it's cute looks fool you, This thing will fuck up your life! This guy is like the greatest salesman in the world, it will talk to you like it's giving you the greatest bargain you can get for a very cheap price, your soul. Hmm sounds very familiar. It cost an arm and a leg or maybe a head for Madoka and her friends to realize what kind of mess they got themselves into.
3. Izaya Orihara (Durarara!!)
"If you don't know who I am, then get out of here." |
He's a powerful and skilled underground information broker. He usually gives information for his own enjoyment, and he claims to love the entire human race, excluding Shizuo Heiwajima. This is one guy that enjoys conflict and finds ways to start it. He will usually play on both sides so no matter who wins he will still have an advantage,
2. Gaku Yashiro (ERASED)
"The essence of good deeds and evil deeds is the same. They’re both no more than a person’s actions to make up for a defect in themselves." |
He is Satoru's homeroom teacher at Mikoto Elementary School back in 1988, I had my suspicions early in the series but it seemed like he wasn't the murderer. During the time Satoru figured out the killer's next target, he tried to seek help by going to his homeroom teacher. During the time they were driving toward the scene, I noticed Gaku displayed certain ticks, and to my surprise this guy happened to be the actual killer. The fact that he hid his secret so well is the reason why he is on number 2. Read the manga if you want a more satisfying ending to this character's capture.
1. Sato (Ajin the Demi-Human)
"The higher the difficulty, the greater the satisfaction when you clear it" |
Sato is shown to be a calm and cheerful individual in the outside as he's able to make people feel calm in his presence. However, beneath this facade is a sinister persona of his - he is merciless when it comes to killing others and he often finds it fun to cause destruction and kill people. He also happens to be a gamer, he always plays his games at the highest difficulty level. First time I saw this guy fight, my freaking jaw dropped, he's a one man army, and the fact that he doesn't die, it gave him a huge advantage. As the series progressed he really got on my nerves.
