Star Wars at Aomori Nebuta Matsuri

The Aomori Nebuta Festival is usually held every year from August 2 to 7. Nebuta refers to the huge papier-mache lanterns in the shape of  a brave warrior. These floats are carried through the center of the city while people dance and chant around it. It's kind of like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade of Japan.

This year they have Star Wars themed floats and it looks amazing. Japan has always followed tradition though so the organizers decided not to include the Star Wars floats in the parade. They said it would attract too many visitors and cause turmoil. I do see what they mean when they said "it would break tradition," the festival is a celebration of Japanese heroes, and if foreign warriors are mixed in it kinda removes the essence of the festival. Even though Star Wars characters are Japanese influenced, you can't avoid the fact that the creator is still an American. Even if these floats were not included in the festival, they were still displayed, and heck they look awesome.

It would be awesome if they would display these in Tokyo Disneyland instead, at least that's where they really belong. The Japanese have a way of making American stuff either look cooler or weirder. Take this Lotte Bikkuriman peanut wafer for example:
Way better right?
