The Green Hill Pilgrim Awards
The Green Hill Pilgrims decided to give awards to wacky categories that are not usually mentioned in famous award giving bodies like the Oscars. The trophy design is based on a otaryman (otaku salaryman) because that's what the members in the GHP are. The results shown here are just personal opinions of the Green Hill Pilgrims. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Okay on with the awards!
Best Pose After a Rider Kick:
Kamen Rider Agito
After successfully delivering a rider kick, he faces the viewer and extends his hand asking for entertainment fees while the enemy behind blows up to smithereens. Nothing defines cool other than than Kamen Rider Agito. The first choice was supposed to be Kamen Rider Kabuto, his pose is cool after the standing roundhouse rider kick, his finisher is quite unique among Kamen Riders. but the problem with his pose is that he points up to the heavens after the kick, so if you look up, you'll miss the awesome explosion behind him.
Best Twist in a Music Track:
Into Free -Dangan-
The Dragon's Dogma title screen music starts of with a gentle piano track in which you thought it was something usually found on generic RPG's, but the mood shifts after a few seconds to electric guitar riffs and J-pop music with English lyrics. This was somewhat surprising to the people who never saw the Japanese trailers of Dragons Dogma which featured the track. The original version "Samayoeru Aoi Dangan" which is the original version of this track in Japanese did not have the same opening. It was pretty funny for Shopao to call it a twist. I guess the fast part in "Fur Elise" can also be considered a twist? If not, then now it is, and you heard it from us.
Best in Fictional Technology:
The Scouter
The Scouter, a fictional device that originated in the manga Dragon Ball is an interstellar communication device, It detects your attack power, indicates the distance and location of the nearest living creature, can detect hostility like a spider sense, and it looks cool. Said to be created by the alien race called the Tuffles, and adapted by the Saiyans after wiping out their race. The scouter has been standard issue in the Saiyan race. Funny thing about this piece of technology is that when it overloads, it does not show a puny blue screen. IT BLOWS UP! So be like Vegeta and crush it if the power levels go beyond 8000 or 9000 as stated by the American version. The scouters come in green, red and blue colors.
Best Manager in a Fictional Novel:
Gandalf
No one keeps everyone together better than Gandalf. The guy can see potential in a person, and he can make the best team out of the strangest individuals. He may speak softly but he carries a big stick. And if you're lost, he can light up your path... literally!
Best Team in a Motion Picture:
The Avengers
Have you seen this movie? Heck if you have not then you're missing half of your life! The way they depicted how the members of the Avengers got together was pretty chaotic, but their teamwork in the end is the greatest thing I have ever seen in any super hero movie.
Coolest Death Scene:
Rei's death scene in Hokuto no Ken
The more painful your death, the cooler you are in the world of Japanese storytelling. Rei was one of my favorite characters in Hokuto no Ken not only because of how obsessive-compulsive he is with cutting an enemy in half using his signature style "Nanto Suicho Ken". Rei has the heart of a martyr and possesses a great sense of Justice. He also got Mamiya to fall for him. When Raoh struck his vital point "Shinketsushu" it sentenced him to three days of living in agonizing pain before ending his life.
Scariest Signature Move:
Big Bang Kamehameha
What's more scarier than Goku's Kame Hame Ha and Vegeta's Big Bang Attack? Both of them combined! If there is something that would be able to annihilate a god, then this would be it. Eat that Omega Shenron!
Best Punch:
Raoh's Shu Renda
What's better than Kenshiro's Hokuro Hyaku Retsu Ken? Raoh's version of Hyaku Retsu Ken. Raoh practices Go no Ken, which is his form of Hokuto Shinken that focuses on pure power. His version of Hyaku Retsu Ken is called Shu Renda, a technique he used in the Ten no Haoh storyline. Raoh's hands are already as big as a human head. And a hundred more of that smacking you rapidly would be horrible. Not only that, this technique can make blood leak from the victim's pores. Really scary stuff.
Best Slap:
Masahiro Chono Annual Slap
Every end of the year, in the show Gaki no Tsukai, they usually hold a punishment game. And every year in the "Batsu Game" there is always an event in where Chono Masahiro, a Japanese pro wrestler would deliver a massive slap to Yamasaki Hosei's face. Occasionally he does get to slap other members of the show, but consistently the hand goes straight for Yamasaki.
Best Kick:
Rider Kick
Any kick would be cool if you shout "Rider Kick" along with it. The rider kick has been the staple finishing attack of almost every Kamen Rider, and throughout the series various versions of this finishing move have taken form. The move from the first Kamen Rider itself looks pretty plain, but shouting the move out loud makes it feel a bit more powerful. For example when playing Street Fighter, Ryu's normal flying kick looks incredibly plain right? Try shouting RIDER KICK! while doing it, doesn't it feel better? The damage is still the same but it feels more satisfying.
Best Ecchi Face:
Woody
You've seen it once in the movie, and when his Figma was released, they included that very same face. There are a ton of pictures in the internet pairing him with various female figurines. Since his figurine is pose-able, the possibilities are endless. Akiba would be a paradise for good ol' Woody.
That wraps up the first GHP awards, the results are merely opinions of the GHP and should not be taken seriously. Next time we'll come up with more ridiculous categories.
